The 20th annual Webby Awards takes place this May, and the list of nominations for the event have now been announced. Established in the late 90’s The Webby Awards is a leading international award honouring excellence on the internet, and features a Virtual Reality: Gaming, Interactive or Real-Time (Online Film & Video) category. This year there are five companies listed, showcasing a mix of what virtual reality (VR) has to offer.

The nominees are Cardboard Crash VR for Google Cardboard from the National Film Board of Canada, Insidious Chapter 3: Into the Further by Secret Location, Target Creative’s House on Hallow Hill, William Hill: Get in the Race from Unit 9 and The Neymar Jr. Effect by Vrse.works.

The winners will be chosen by IADAS members, including Jimmy Kimmel, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, Instagram’s Eva Chen, Questlove, Internet inventor Vint Cerf and Crisis Text Line Founder Nancy Lublinwill. Voting is also open for The Webby Awards’ People’s Voice Awards until 21st April, with the winners being announced on 26th April. There’ll also be an official ceremony taking place on Monday 16th May, which will be available to view at the Webby Awards website on 17th May.
