Virtual reality (VR) isn’t safe from the cat craze that has swept the entire internet over the past few years, not that you’d necessarily want it to. To that end, Denmark-based Bolvërk Games is today announcing a brand new VR exclusive strategic defence title today in Kittypocalypse, which features scores of the furry felines brought to life in 3D. The tower defence title is on its way to the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive PC-based head-mounted displays (HMDs) as well as the PlayStation VR HMD for the PlayStation 4.

An official announcement trailer for the new videogame can currently be seen below. In Kittypocalypse, players are tasked with defending recovery vessels from a swarm of evil alien forces that have invaded the planet by disguising themselves as cute kittens. Players will be able to control turrets and mow down hordes of incoming attackers across 20 different islands that range from deserts to forests and snowy mountain ranges. The trailer offers just a hint of this action, with kittens being thrown across landscapes as the player’s towers take aim.

Kittypocalypse will be arriving in the launch window for the Oculus Rift, which will be releasing on 28th March 2016. The HTC Vive and PlayStation VR versions of the experience will be arriving later down the line. The title has been designed exclusively with VR in mind in order to combat issues with motion sickness. It marks the first major release for Bolvërk Games, a 9-person studio.
