The use of visualisations are often as an accessory to music, giving the viewer additional immersion into their favourite tracks. But a New York City-based startup, MyndGazer, is running a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign to visualise brainwaves in the same way, specifically for meditation and mind training. It will be available for most virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMD) including Google Cardboard, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, but isn’t only exclusive to VR.

The software brings together science and mindfulness, using a Neurosky EEG headset to monitor brain activity – often used medically to detect neurological disorders – and inputting the information into a stereo visualisation, creating a realtime 3D image as you brainwaves change.

Control of relaxation and focus is the ultimate goal, which could potentially be helpful for those who struggle to control their mind. On the Kickstarter page it says: “As you meditate, placing your awareness on the changing images and relaxing, the visualization changes again and you instinctively learn to stay with that mind state, resting and open.”

The Kickstarter campaign is hoped to reach a goal of $10,000 USD by 4th March, with a very specific time of 6:37 PM ET. The crowdfunding has already reached $2,294 USD, and those who pledge $79 USD or more will receive their own MyndGazer software application.
