Day by day the landscape for virtual reality (VR) broadcasting continues to develop; be it through financial investment, new technologies or deals to bring new live sporting, music television and film events to VR. As this industry develops it is inevitable that it will become more attractive to those within the broadcast industry who wasn’t to be involved in the cutting edge of next gen innovation.
One of the companies involved in the development of this new broadcast field is VOKE, whom we last spoke of on VRFocus back in November following their business deal within both the NFL and NBA to develop VR engagement. Today they have announced a new addition to their staffing line-up who VOKE’s CEO Dr. S. Jayam claims will bring a “unique combination of technical knowledge and strong business and marketing skills” to the company.
VOKE has been joined by former Sportvision executive Jeff Jonas, a 20 year veteran of sports media and technology. Jonas, who has eight Emmy wins under his belt has worked on previous technology advancements in American Football, NASCAR and baseball.
“VOKE’s versatile platform simultaneously produces a stereoscopic real-time VR feed and a live 2D immersive feed for mobile phones and tablets. As a result, VOKE is able to seed the growth of VR, engaging early-adopters, who already own VR headsets, as well as current mobile and tablet users. And I’m convinced our approach will be highly successful and change the face of sports and entertainment.” said Jonas.
