The chances are if you’re an Oculus Rift pre-orderer you’re still waiting on your device to ship. It could be that you’re waiting all the way up until July 2016. Those that have pre-ordered the kit’s main rival, the HTC Vive, hopefully won’t be waiting as long, though. The virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is due to start arriving next week on 5th April, though it seems like some of the first shipments are already taking place.

Reddit user LT_KI recently posted an image of a tracking email update from FedEx, noting that a package from HTC was expected to ship today for its scheduled delivery next Tuesday. It doesn’t appear that any other commenters on the thread have got such an email yet, but they can’t be far behind. Pre-orders for the kit are currently backdated to May, however, so don’t expect any order made now to be with you for a while yet.

The HTC Vive will arrive with two position tracked controllers and a pair of Lighthouse base stations that will follow the user and provide Room Scale tracking, allowing them to walk around an area of up to 15 feet by 15 feet.
