The sixth annual Develop: Brighton conference will be held in July 2016 and since February organisers Tandem Events have has submissions open for speakers to attend. Several have now been listed on the official website for the show, but currently only one involves virtual reality (VR). Confirmed currently is Martin de Ronde, Creative Director at Vanguard Games.

During the session De Ronde will be talking on the topic of ‘Converting an Established Genre into VR: Pitfalls and Opportunities’. Vanguard Games past titles include Gatling Gears, Halo: Spartan Assault and Halo: Spartan Strike, and the team are now is the process of making a VR title in a similar genre to these videogames.

The description for the session explains: “By using our Oculus Rift title that will launch later this year, this case study will walk you through the process of developing for VR and will be looking to provide you with a number of general lessons and takeaways for VR derived from specific issues encountered during development of our flagship VR game.”

Vanguard Games has yet to announce a title for their VR project but the studio is currently looking for a senior game programmer as it expands its VR and augmented reality (AR) activities.

Develop: Brighton will introduce a dedicated VR track for this years event running as part of the main conference. The new track will complement another new feature, a VR Gallery in the expo area where VR platforms and games will be showcased for visitors to experience.
