To celebrate the launch of the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD), Valve has plastered the front page of Steam with virtual reality (VR). Promotional images of the device alongside a rolling roster of titles available to download. The company has also released a trailer for Steam VR featuring the HMD.

The video starts as if a family have just received their brand new HTC Vive in the post, opening and setting up the headset. It then moves onto Valve’s headquarters where the company sets up a green screen demo area and Chet Falizek, the developer and writer who’s become the spokesman for VR at Valve. He talks to several groups explaining the reasons for the green screen before they jump into the world of VR.

The participants then get to play a wide variety of videogames including: The LabtheBlu, Job Simulator, Cloudlands: VR Minigolf, Fantastic Contraption, Irrational Exuberance, Audioshield, Final Approach, Space Pirate Trainer, Everest VR, Arizona Sunshine, Elite Dangerous, Budget Cuts, Hover Junkers, Tilt Brush, The Gallery – Episode 1.

The HTC Vive can be ordered through its dedicated website for £689 GBP / $799 USD excluding delivery. The next shipments won’t go out until May now, and HTC has confirmed several retailers in the UK will have demo areas for customers to try VR for the first time.
