French publisher Ubisoft’s upcoming virtual reality (VR) debut, Eagle Flight, isn’t specifically a relaxation-based videogame, but it’s certainly one of the more soothing games you can play on head-mounted displays (HMDs). The experience’s soundtrack complements its soaring gameplay in this way, and now you can get a taste of it for yourself. Ubisoft has made one of the upcoming title’s tracks available to listen to ahead of launch via its Ubi Loud channel, and you can hear it for yourself just below.
The track is titled ‘The Wild Sky’ and it’s composed by Inon Zur. It’s a sweeping three minute piece with majestic vocals, provided by Aeralie Brighton and Mimi Page. You can easily picture yourself flying across the streets of a deserted Paris that’s been reclaimed by nature, which is exactly what you’ll do in the new title. Zur is composing the experience’s entire soundtrack and has previously worked on titles like Bethesda Softworks’ Fallout 4 and Ubisoft’s own Prince of Persia series.
Eagle Flight itself is in developed at FunHouse, a division of Ubisoft Montreal, and consists of a mix of both single and multiplayer gameplay. In both you’ll take control of a eagle and wind through the French capital, with the single-player campaign offering races and other modes. Multiplayer, meanwhile, has players compete to secure prey while firing off scatching screeches to bring down enemies in a unique twist on Capture The Flag gameplay.
Eagle Flight will be coming to the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR HMDs. It’s expected to be a launch title for the latter, which hits on 13th October 2016.
