The Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is set to include a lot of add-ons for free. People pre-ordering today will be getting free copies of the anticipated multiplayer space shooter, EVE: Online, from CCP Games as well as Lucky’s Tale from Playful and an Xbox One controller to actually played them with. Those last 2 will also be included for anyone that picks up the Oculus Rift with or without the pre-order. A third, very important addition is also being made for everyone: a wireless adapter for that controller.

The adaptor will allow players to link their Xbox One controller to a PC instead of the console that is was originally intended for. Oculus Rift creator and Oculus VR founder Palmer Luckey announced the news via his Twitter account: “Wireless adapter is included with controller, forgot to mention in blog posts,” he noted. “Have at it, press people!” Don’t worry about heading out to the store to pick up an adapter when you get your Oculus Rift within the next three to four months, then.

These add-ons will certainly help explain the kit’s surprising $599 USD price tag, though that still doesn’t include the high powered PC needed to run the device.

VRFocus will continue to follow the Oculus Rift’s progress closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
