It’s not long now until virtual reality (VR) fans will finally be able to get their hands on what has to be one of the tech’s most awaited titles in The Gallery from Cloudhead Games. The first episode in this four-part series, titled The Gallery: Call of the Starseed, will be launching alongside the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) in April, meaning there’s just under three months to go until release. Now new screenshots for the experience have been revealed, and can be seen below.
Many of the 12 shots on display below are taken from demos of the title that the developer has showcased at events such as PAX Prime over the past year. They reveal a calm coast setting that the player will be able to explore using the HTC Vive’s Room Scale user-tracking and Cloudhead Games’ own Blink locomotion system, which allows for easy navigation around VR environments. One shot even reveals a look at an NPC in the title, while others give a glimpse of how players will use the HMD’s position-tracked controllers to realistically interact with the envrionment and objects.
The Gallery is planning to release new episodes around six months apart from each other and will also be coming to the Oculus Rift HMD in time for the launch of the Oculus Touch controllers. A PlayStation VR version is also planned, though it’s not yet clear when that edition will launch.
