E McNeill, developer of the hugely popular Darknet, has launched a demo version of his second Gear VR title, Tactera. Available to download now, Tactera is free for both Gear VR Innovator Edition and consumer hardware owners, listed under the ‘Concepts’ section of the Oculus Home application.

Tactera is a real-time strategy (RTS) videogame developed specifically for virtual reality (VR). The player is situated in a command centre and uses a holographic display to build gunships, tanks and bombers before issuing them orders upon the battlefield. The Gear VR edition of Tactera is playable without a controller, making use of the built-in touchpad on the head-mounted display (HMD).

The full version of Tactera is currently expected to be made available in Q1 2016, including more units and maps, a campaign mode and multiplayer gameplay. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details on Tactera and other VR titles from E McNeill.
