On June 13, Sony held its press conference at the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles. A lot of big news came out of the conference, especially in relation to its virtual reality (VR) headset, Playstation VR (PSVR). Not only did Sony announce that the PSVR would be released in October of this year, it also unveiled an exciting lineup of videogames for the device, one of which is Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission. A long name for a big videogame.

The announcement of the videogame was accompanied by a short but self-explanatory trailer which showed the title will no doubt be filled with X-Wing spaceships players can pilot and battle in space, with plenty of dogfighting, collisions, and explosions that are sure to make the most of the immersion enabled by the PSVR headset.

The title is being worked on by Criterion Games and DICE, who announced on the Playstation Blog after the videogame’s reveal that Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission will be free for everyone who already owns Star Wars Battlefront on Playstation 4. The developers say that this is a reward for player loyalty after the Star Wars Battlefront community has grown into the millions since its launch in December of last year.

In the VR experience, Criterion and DICE promise that players will be “transported from the comforts of your living room to an X-Wing cockpit in space” in an experience “that feels more real than you can imagine.”

Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission will be exclusive to the PSVR when it’s released, joining an exciting lineup of exclusives that will include Final Fantasy XV, Batman: Arkham VR, and Resident Evil VII. Outside of exclusives, the PSVR will have an impressive 50 titles available to play between its launch and the end of 2016.
