Paris Games Week (PGW) is taking place in France this week and while it’s not expected to be a huge show for virtual reality (VR) in general, the technology will have some presence at the event. Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE), for example, has brought its PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) for the PlayStation 4 console to the show along with a handful of titles. One such title is Guerrilla Cambridge’s upcoming online mech shooter, RIGS: Mechanised Combat League. In fact, a brand new level for the videogame is debuting this week.

VRFocus has learned that RIGS: Mechanised Combat League is showcasing a new map set in Dubai for its PGW showing. You can expect SCE to make mention of it later on today as its anticipated press conference. The game mode on display is Power Slam, the very same game type that has been shown at E3 2015 and other events throughout the year. This mode sees players defeat enemies and collect orbs to activate an overdrive state. From there, they’ll have a limited time to find a goal and jump through it to score a point for their team.

As with previous showings, 3 classes of Rigs are available in the demo though it’s not yet clear if these are the same as the ones seen in previous demos. Each boasts their own advantages such as running speed. Guerrilla Cambridge hasn’t yet announced a possible release date for the title, although PlayStation VR itself isn’t expected to launch until the first half of 2016.

VRFocus will continue to follow RIGS: Mechanised Combat League closely, reporting back with the latest updates on the title.
