A couple of days ago VRFocus reported on a statement issued by Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) to Eurogamer that: ‘all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers’. Now it seems that first statement wasn’t entirely accurate as SIE has reversed what it said, releasing an amended version.

As reported by The Verge, the new statement reads: “Nearly all PlayStation VR titles will support DualShock 4 controllers, and several games will deliver an enhanced experience that further immerses gamers with the use of peripherals such as Move or the recently announced Aim controller. There will be a limited number of titles that require Move controllers.”

That’s quite a bit of a turn around as the company is definitively saying (unless it changes its mind again) that if there’s a particular title/s you want to play and you don’t already own the PlayStation Move controllers then you’ll have to fork out extra cash for it.

Initially that was expected anyway as some developers had been making Move focused titles, SIE just muddied the waters by saying that wasn’t the case.

Alex Schwartz of Owlchemy Labs, told The Verge: “Job Simulator requires two Move controllers to play on PSVR. Job Simulator is one of Sony’s top demos on PSVR and they show our title everywhere. We are confident that Job Simulator will be one of the top launch titles for PSVR.”

SIE had been doing well up until this point, showcasing a strong selection of titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) last month, and pre-order sales seemingly healthy as quite a few retailers – especially in the US – had sold out. So it’s just been an unfortunate blip on the company’s part, but the real test will come in October when customers orders are shipped, not to fall foul of the same issues that plagued HTC Vive and certainly Oculus Rift at launch.
