The San Francisco Virtual Reality (SFVR) meetup had a very successful 2015, proving to be one of the most popular VR orientated events. Now the first SFVR for 2016 has been announced, #12, for February, with a bigger and longer running show.

Taking place at the Gray Area Theater, 2665 Mission St, San Francisco, California, on Saturday 20th, Feb, the SFVR#12: Virtual Reality Showcase will now be running from 1pm – 10pm.

SFVR#12 is currently signing up speakers and exhibitors, but organiser Matt Sonic has announced the event will be hosting an early preview of PhaseSpace’s VR experience. The preview will feature a 1,000 square foot motion-captured play area along with multiplayer Gear VR experiences with a team of four players.

It’ll also include motion-captured props that will allow players to fire virtual blasters in a sci-fi battle or swing swords and cast spells in a dungeon brawl. This will be the first public demonstration of this unique technology, tracking active markers at up to 960 frames-per-second.

General admission tickets are available from SFVR’s Eventbright page for $17.50 USD excluding fees. There are also Early Access VIP tickets on sale for $55.00 USD which will get you in two hours earlier so you can try the demos straight away.

VRFocus will continue to bring you the latest news on SFVR as further announcements are made.
