One of the developers that’s worked closest with the PlayStation VR virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) is SCE London Studio. The UK-based developer was present at the reveal of the device two years ago with tech demos such as The Deep, which has been seen at countless events since. At last year’s Game Developers Conference (GDC), the company revealed a new tech demo for the kit in The London Heist. Today, just hours ahead of this year’s GDC presentation for the kit, SCE London Studio has revealed a brand new logo.
The new logo was revealed via Twitter, and replaces the old one that resembled a DualShock d-pad only with the classic face buttons placed on top. The new design clearly pays tribute to those buttons once more, with a circle and cross clearly visible and a pyramid symbolising a triangle. Each shape is also housed inside a square. Could this new reveal mean that the developer is preparing to reveal another VR demo at today’s event? Could the studio possibly even be planning to reveal its first full videogame?
There have been rumours that The London Heist could turn into a full release from the developer. The piece pays tribute to its PlayStation 2-era series, The Getaway, and offers two experiences in which players are involved in intense shootouts, using the PlayStation Move motion controllers to aim and fire guns. The demo has proved to be one of the most popular on PlayStation VR over the past year, and GDC would be a fitting place to reveal a full version.
