Alongside new videogames Hidden Temple — VR Adventure and Air Hockey VR to arrive this week for Samsung’s mobile head-mounted display (HMD) Gear VR, the manufacturer has also launched its own app. Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event takes place this Sunday and the new Unpacked VR app will allow users to follow the proceedings in complete 360-degrees.

The global launch event, taking place in Barcelona, Spain prior to the Mobile World Congress show which begins on Monday, is expected to see some major announcements from the company. News is expected to include the reveal of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, as well as further news on its virtual reality (VR) headset Gear VR.

Samsung released a teaser video earlier in February for the show, with the only product in it being the Gear VR. Rumours have also been circulating that pre-orders for the two flagship smartphones will launch at the Unpacked event, and that anyone who places an order will also receive a free Gear VR. As this hasn’t been confirmed yet, everyone will need to wait until Sunday to find out.

Features in the app include the option to choose between four live cameras, to get the view you like the best, as well as traditional broadcast coverage. The app is free to download now in preparation for the event.

VRFocus will be covering Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2016, reporting back with the latest announcements.
