At the beginning of the month Samsung unveiled a teasing trailer for its Unpacked event which takes place today. While the trailer revealed very little, the majority of the video comprised of the Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD). Then leaked images reportedly showing the new Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, were leaked online. Now Samsung has officially revealed its two latest flagship smartphones to the public, with their specifications.

The Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will feature 5.1 inch and 5.5 inch screens, MicroSD card slot, waterproofing to IP68, as well as a new 64bit octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM, that make the devices 30% more powerful. The battery life for the S7 at least, is said to be similar to the Galaxy Note 5, including Samsung’s quick-charging technology, taking a flat battery to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

The specs for the Galaxy S7 are:

The specs for the Galaxy S7 Edge are:

Its now been confirmed that consumers who pre-order the the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge will also receive a free Gear  VR HMD.  It shows Samsung are gearing the new smartphones even more towards virtual reality (VR) and with better hardware inside, developers should be able to expand upon their ideas and projects for the mobile headset.
