While an official date hasn’t been set for the PlayStation VR there is still much anticipation for the videogame content that is set the release with the launch, and it seems that they are edging closer to completion. Rebellion’s virtual reality (VR) arcade reboot of Battlezone is one of those titles getting closer to its final version which can be seen from the new gameplay trailer featuring a new campaign that is more explosive than previous footage.

The VR tanker arcade videogame’s new campaign will showcase a more in-depth version of Battlezone that has never been seen, boasting that no two campaigns will be the same. This means that even in this play through that no two players will experience the same content as the campaign randomises content throughout the level, blending dozens of environments, levels, and mission types. Other major features that help the player become immersed are the extensive new cockpit aesthetics, including vital gameplay information and levels; new and more complex enemies; diverse environments, including a new night-time arena, glowing industrial environments, windswept ice wastes, and an updated version of the classic neon level previous shown.

Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director of Rebellion, is confident of the impact that Battlezone will provide: “I think VR has an unfair reputation for just offering cool bitesize experiences, but we want to come out firing and deliver the kind of substantial content early-adopters are crying out for.”

He goes on to say: “Obviously we’re hoping that Battlezone will be one of the first PlayStation VR games players buy, but we’re also designing it to be the one they return to time and time again… once VR has taken over the world of course!”
