The past year has been a successful one for Slightly Mad Studios regarding the release and height of popularity of Project CARS thanks to its vast collection of racing cars and expansion beyond the videogame itself with the developers creating a free Red Bull Air Race VR title. Today the studio has announced the release of Project CARS Game of the Year Edition alongside Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe.

Project CARS, described as “the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game in the sim racing genre”, features an array of various well-known racing cars which are always expanding, as well as famous tracks and liveries. Exclusive to the Game of the Year Edition, there will now be two special additions made to the title which are the Nurburgring Combined Nordschieife and GP circuit, and two exclusive Pagani vehicles: the Zonda Revolucion and Huayra BC. There have been more than 50 cars features, four tracks, and over 60 community-created liveries added since the initial launch of the racing title, resulting in 125 cars, 35 locations, and 100 layouts.

On the official Project CARS website the motivation behind creating this latest edition owes itself to the loyalty of the players: “The Game Of The Year edition is a celebration and a thank you to the racing community around the world. Project CARS has grown hugely via its On Demand and Esports programs, and is the leading racing title in new technologies such as 12K and Virtual Reality.”

In the trailer below there are slow shots of engines, locations, and cars, showing off the detailed graphics that give the racing game its edge. The trailer quickly picks up pace, showing each of the top cars swerving in and out in different weather conditions.

Project CARS Game of the Year Edition is currently available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC with its usual VR built-in support.
