Power to the Pixel: The Cross-Media Forum, held in association with the 59th BFI London Film Festival, is taking place this week to showcase the latest ideas and innovations of modern storytelling, audience engagement and business practices. As part of the event, there will be two sessions devoted to virtual reality (VR) storytelling at The Conference on Tuesday 13th October.

The first session will take place at 3:45pm – 4.30pm GMT, and titled Virtual Stories: Diving into a New Storytelling Dimension. Speaking at this session will be Alex Bowker , Developer Relations Lead, Samsung Electronics, Dave Ranyard,  Sony London Studio Director, Sony and Saschka Unseld, Director, Oculus Story Studio. While the second session will be on, Virtual Stories: Real-World Change. Gabo Arora, Senior Advisor & Filmmaker from the United Nations will be hosting this event from 4:30pm – 4:50pm GMT.

Power to the Pixel Founder and CEO Liz Rosenthal has said about VR: “VR is a new story-telling platform. There’s no standard, there’s a lot of experimentation and it’s all moving really rapidly. There are so many questions around what VR means for creating and experiencing content and what the models are going to be.”

As well as the conference, Power to the Pixel has put together a public exhibition, Virtual Stories, showcasing some of the best in 360° and VR content, including Clouds over Sidra, Evolution of Verse and Jurassic World: Apatosaurus, to name a few.

The exhibition will run alongside the Forum at the nearby BFI IMAX from 10th – 18th October 2015. VRFocus will continue to report on all the latest news and updates regarding VR as they’re announced.
