Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) is no stranger to peripherals for its PlayStation consoles. Over the course of the past two decades the company has released extra controllers, cameras and more for everything from the original PlayStation to even its handhelds such as the PlayStation Portable (PSP). Two of its biggest projects in this field over the years have been the PlayStation EyeToy and the PlayStation Move. Though both were massive projects in their own right, it appears PlayStation VR already has more videogames coming to it than either had over their entire lifetimes.

That statistic was shared in Polygon’s cover feature showcasing the upcoming virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) this week. PlayStation EyeToy was an augmented reality camera for the PlayStation 2 that made the player’s body a controller, while PlayStation Move proved to be a controversial set of motion controllers for the PlayStation 3, released at the height of popularity for the Nintendo Wii. Both saw plenty of releases, though apparently not enough to match PlayStation VR, which is yet to even launch.

Of course, the number of PlayStation Move compatible titles is also expanding with the release of PlayStation VR, as many videogames will support the position tracked controllers much in the same way they will the Oculus Touch controllers on the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive’s own controllers. If anything, then, PlayStation Move will be getting a second wind with the release of the kit, having arguably failed to live up to expectations on PlayStation 3. SCE has already announced that there are over 200 developers working on content for PlayStation VR.

PlayStation VR is yet to receive a full date and price, though it’s hoped SCE will share such information next week during an event for the device at the 2016 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, California. Check back with VRFocus for the latest on the kit.
