This year during Pocket Gamer Connects (PG Connects) there was no denying that virtual reality (VR) was a big part. Now PG Connects is coming to Helsinki, and there will be a more concentrated approach to VR gaming with The VR Indie Pitch.

In a blog post by PG Connects, it was admitted that although they have included VR over the past years, it is now time to give it its own dedicated section. “Much like The Very Big Indie Pitch which will be happening at the same time, the VR Indie Pitch will be a developer pitching competition open to all types of independent developers working on virtual reality games for any platform, and will take place at the Wanha Satama in Helsinki, Finland, on September 5th and 6th.”

When the pitching begins, developers will have only 10 minutes to pitch their game to VR journalists and industry experts – including our Editor Kevin Joyce – and from that there will be three finalists who will be chosen to spend the second day showcasing their game, which will result in another vote for the winning videogame.

In order to enter into this competition, developers will need to keep to these criteria: the pitch should be about any time of VR game, including mobile, PC or console; you can pitch a game even if it has been pitched before; there is a preference for unreleased games, although released titles are just as welcome; and it doesn’t need to be completed.

The deadline for entries is midnight on August 25th 2016. Applications take place online on the Pocket Gamer Business Network.
