The National Hockey League (NHL) has been involved with virtual reality (VR) in various guises for sometime now. The sporting association has worked with NextVR, STRIVR Labs and Jaunt to bring fans closer to the action or improve player performance with VR training. Now Perspective Films has announced a partnership with the Vancouver Canucks, the company will be the preferred supplier for VR production for the team.

Perspective Films’ Canucks VR Experience is the first VR experience to be created from the collaboration. The 360-degree video will put sponsors and season ticket holders directly onto the ice, fully immersing them in a viewpoint fans rarely get to see.

“We are proud to work with the Canucks,” says Chris Bedyk, founder of Perspective Films in a statement. “Fan engagement is essential to every sports team. We believe this immersive technology is a perfect fit for brands that need to create a new experience that captivates their fans.”

Based in Vancouver, Canada, Perspective Films is a VR production company that was founded in 2012. Since then it’s produced VR Wonders of the World, Memory Lane, as well as offering production and post production services.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of Perspective Films, reporting back with its latest projects.
