Indie developer Paper Crane Games is exploring an interesting side to virtual reality (VR) software; photography. Strapping a head-mounted display (HMD) to a player’s face is a fairly realistic simulation of holding up a camera to take a picture, creating some unique opportunities for a genre that’s barely been touched since 1999’s Pokémon Snap. With that in mind, the developer’s upcoming title, Explorer’s Incorporated, is worth keeping an eye on, especially following the release of its proof of concept demo in The Lost Valley VR.

VRFocus recently spoke to Paper Crane Games itself about its work with the technology, and what fans can expect from Explorers Incorporated. In the interview below Co-Founder Giancarlo Surla talks about the development of its upcoming title and why the team chose to support VR technology with it. There’s also hints of which platforms the title will appear on and when we might see more from the project.

VRFocus will continue to follow Paper Crane Games’ work in VR closely, reporting back with any further updates from the team.
