Fans of Studio Wildcards virtual reality (VR) compatible title ARK: Survival Evolved have been treated to lots of exciting additions to the title over the last few months. Numerous dinosaurs, items and features have been added to expand the videogame and now the studio has launched the next update. Included is the carnivorous Oviraptor, stealth-oriented armour, items such as an Industrial Oven and Bunk Bed, alongside various optimisations and balancing improvements.

The Oviraptor maybe a carnivore but its primary source of food is eggs, which it plunders from nests. The dinosaur is to be able to steal these eggs usually without arousing the suspicion of the mother, so it can eat them itself or bring them back to its master. Additionally an Oviraptor can emit a chemical pheromone that affects many creatures as an aphrodisiac, increasing the mating speed of nearby dinos. They also make quite adorable sounds, so many children simply like to keep them as rather strange companions.

The ARK: Survival Evolved update also adds the Ghillie Suit armour, set for camouflaged stealth against Dinos and Survivors; the Industrial Oven, which enables cooking food on a large scale for an entire Tribe’s army; a Table furniture item, upon which small structures can be placed and a Modern Bunk-Bed for faster respawning.

The videogame is currently in Steam’s Early Access program and includes Oculus Rift support. Studio Wildcard will launch the title in June 2016 on Xbox One via the ID@Xbox program, PlayStation 4 with PlayStation VR support, and full release on Steam PC.

VRFocus will continue to follow the latest updates from Studio Wildcard, reporting back with any further announcements.
