Tomorrow sees the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) finally go up for pre-order after years of waiting for fans. Once a countdown on Oculus VR’s official site ends, people will be able to get in an early order for the device before it ships later on in Q1 2016, as well as find out the final price of the kit. As creator Palmer Luckey confirmed yesterday, this campaign won’t be exclusive to the US, with 20 countries participating from the start. Today, those exact 20 countries have been revealed.
The list, revealed over on Oculus VR’s support site, confirms that Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom and the United States will be able order an Oculus Rift tomorrow. Luckey has also noted that the company is working to add more countries to that list overtime. Hopefully that means some surprising omissions such as South Korea will be able to get their hands on units in the near future.
This list also applies to Oculus Kickstarter backers that today discovered they would be getting a free Kickstarter edition of the kit as a thank you for backing all the way back in 2012.
Anyone that does pre-order an Oculus Rift won’t just get the HMD by itself. They’ll also receive two free videogames in CCP Games’ EVE: Valkyrie and Playful’s Lucky’s Tale, the latter of which will be free to everyone that picks up the kit. An Xbox One controller will also be included in the box.
