Oculus VR has done plenty to help fuel the virtual reality (VR) community over the past few years. Aside from arguably leading the charge for the tech with the Oculus Rift and Gear VR head-mounted displays (HMDs), the company has also hosted development jams and more to get people invested in it. This month Oculus VR has unveiled another such initiative in ‘Launch Pad’, which it will use to help grow ideas for VR experiences and the diversity of people coming up with them.

Launch Pad 2016 was announced by Oculus VR community manager cybereality over on the company’s official forums. “Launch Pad is a program designed to support promising VR content creators so they can take their unique ideas and bring them to market,” the manager explained. “Starting with a one-day bootcamp and potentially leading to a fully-realized VR app.”

That bootcamp will be held at the headquarters of Oculus VR’s parent company, Facebook, on 21st May 2016. It will helping nurture the talent of up to 100 professionals with hands-on courses. They’ll also receive a free Gear VR unit.

Following that, Oculus VR will provide feedback and mentorship to developers via the Oculus Forum from 21st May – 27th August. Scholarships between $5,000 – $50,000 USD could be given out to leaders to help realise their ideas. To apply, simply fill out this application.

You might think of this as any ‘jam’ or sorts, then, only looking to place more focus on developers this time around.
