With the arrival of the long-anticipated consumer version of the Gear VR mobile-based virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) in the US this month, co-creator Oculus VR has made some key changes to some of the apps and storefronts in place for users. One of the major additions is the arrival of Oculus Concepts, a new channel reserved for experimental experiences and pre-release versions of some titles. With this new section now up and running, its initial line-up of software has been revealed.

A wide range of experiences are now on offer over on Oculus Concepts, spanning a variety of genres. Highlighting the list is Oculus VR’s Mobile VR Jam winner, The Night Cafe. There are also a range of demos and other experiences including Labster: CSI Forensics Lab, Cityscape Repairman, Weather Viewer, Wendy, Micigan VR, Element Engine, InMind, Vanguard V, Playhead, Cybercook Taster, Caldera Defense, Jame’s Legacy – The Prologue, the demo for Little Witch Pie Delivery, and the demo for Triangular Pixels’ Smash Hit Plunder.

Oculus Concepts is also on its way to the Oculus Rift HMD on PC, where it’s set to replace the Oculus Share software portal that’s been offering free content for development kit owners for the past few years. Again, fans can expect pre-release content as well as more experimental projects to show up on the store. This is just one part of the overall Oculus Platform for both Gear VR and the Oculus Rift, allowing users to create their own profiles, meet up with people online, earn achievements and more.

VRFocus will continue to follow Oculus Concepts and the Oculus Platform closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
