NVIDIA has today revealed a brand new graphics card: the GeForce GTX 1080. NVIDIA currently set the entry level standard for graphics cards requirements in virtual reality (VR), and the GeForce GTX 1080 will likely open new opportunities for VR developers and consumers alike.

Having spoken about the history of NVIDIA’s work in videogames, dating back to ROM design over 25 years ago, Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, announced the GeForce GTX 1080 during a press conference held in Austin, Texas.

“Today we have VR,” stated Huang. “We’ve dedicated ourselves to advancing this art form.”

Reportedly delivering in excess of a 10% gain on the GTX 980 in terms of efficiency to power consumption, while still reportedly being faster that a Titan X. VRFocus is currently present at NVIDIA’s press conference and will bring you more details on the GeForce GTX 1080 and what it means to VR.
