Nokia’s professional 360-degree camera OZO is now available for companies looking to create high end immersive films, through its website and retail partners. Now its announced a new initiative called the Pioneer Program to enable studio to create virtual reality (VR) experiences that demonstrate the full potential of the technology.

The Pioneer Program is open to applications and purchases of the camera through 30th April, 2016, and requires participants create a 1-minute demo clip using their OZO. They’ll also be able to participate in workshop sessions with Nokia Technologies teams and other content creators to share their experiences in creating VR content.

“Virtual Reality is the next frontier in storytelling, and OZO is designed to provide professional content creators with an innovative solution to produce great VR experiences,” said Paul Melin, vice president of digital media at Nokia Technologies. “Nokia wants to help drive the creation of content that demonstrates the possibilities of this medium in collaboration with innovators at the cutting edge of VR production, and the Pioneer Program is designed to tap into the full creativity of the VR community.”

Content creators involved will also receive a $15,000 USD / €15,000 EUR discount on their purchase of OZO, which retails for $60,000 USD. VRFocus will continue its coverage of OZO, reporting back with the latest updates.
