VR Bits is one virtual reality (VR) developer with plenty of projects on its plate right now. While work continues on one of its original titles, Darkfield, the studio is also prepping a spin off, Darkfield: Infiltrator, and a Room Scale puzzle title named G.T.F.O.. On top of all of this, the team is returning to one of the titles that it’s already released, Nighttime Terror. VR Bits has recently confirmed that an expanded version of the title will be launching this week for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD), with an Oculus Rift version also incoming.

NightTime Terrors 1

The new edition of the title is called Nighttime Terror: Dessert Defender. It retains the title’s core concept in which you control a tiny toy wizard from a third-person perspective, exploring various rooms of a house and fighting off incoming waves of evil toys. New here, however, are six unique levels in which players will be able to cast powerful spells and magic towers to summon tornadoes that will send foes flying. It’s not clear if this expanded content replaces VR Bits’ plans for Nighttime Terror 2, or if the teased sequel is still on the way.

The Steam page for the title is now available, and will start selling it on 5th April 2016, the same day the HTC Vive arrives. It’s not year clear when the Oculus Rift version will launch.

Nighttime Terror originally released on the Gear VR HMD last year. In its review, VRFocus awarded the title three stars. “Nighttime Terror has some interesting ideas for the future of twin-stick shooters in VR, many of which will likely become staples for future endeavours from both VR Bits and other studios looking to enter the field,” VRFocus wrote.
