Back in December 2015 virtual reality (VR) live-streaming company NextVR announced a partnership with RSE Ventures to broadcast the International Champions Cup (ICC). Since then the company has been quiet on when that might take place, but today that schedule has now been revealed.
Working in conjunction with Relevent Sports – a multi-national sports and entertainment venture firm – three ICC matches will be shown on the NextVR platform.
The matches are:
27th July: Liverpool vs. Chelsea, Rose Bowl Stadium (Pasadena, California)
30th July: Real Madrid vs. Chelsea, Michigan Stadium (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
3rd August: Real Madrid vs. Bayern Munich, MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, New Jersey)
An additional game, Leicester City vs. Paris Saint-Germain, will take place on 30th July at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. It’ll be available on-demand during the week following the event.
“This is what we do. We put fans on the sidelines, next to the world’s most talented athletes and allow them to feel as if they are there,” said Brad Allen, Executive Chairman of NextVR. “We are thrilled to be working with Relevent Sports and ICC to bring this experience to the fan base of the world’s most popular sport.”
As with any live-streamed event by NextVR, the app is free to download for the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD).
VRFocus will continue its coverage of NextVR, reporting back with the latest announcements.
