NextVR has partnered with a number of different outlets for its virtual reality (VR) content over the past year. These have included FOX Sports for boxing, Basketball and other sports, and ICC for football. Today NextVR has announced a collaboration with Live Nation to broadcast hundreds of live, cutting-edge performances in VR to music fans worldwide.

This new venture will now allow supply of world-class live music shows for VR viewers to enjoy, whilst encouraging new users to try VR as they get an unprecedented view of their favourite bands and performers. And it won’t just be one immersive viewpoint of the main event, you’ll be able sit in the front row, watch from the stage or head backstage to see what goes on behind the scenes. Sound performance will be optimized through NextVR’s new proprietary 3D VR audio platform, so you’ll want to get a good set of headphones to enjoy the show.

As big name artists battle with streaming sites and other online avenues to get proper financial remuneration for their music, the most profitable way they earn their money is through live events. Attracting a bigger audience through technologies like VR will likely help, boosting sales all round, as VR is still in its early stages of adoption.

The first live music experience is due to be announced soon, with the event taking place in the summer. After which NextVR and Live Nation will be announcing a schedule of live events later this year and each year during the partnership.

Currently the NextVR app is only available on the Samsung Gear VR head-mounted display (HMD), but the company does plan to release the app on other platforms in the future.

VRFocus will continue to keep you up-to-date on the latest from NextVR as we get further details.
