Valve’s SteamVR platform is still in Beta and as such the company is regularly adding a host of updates. Earlier this week Desktop Game Theater, Keyboard and Dashboard functions all received updates and today a couple more additions have arrived.

The update now adds support for controller and base station skins which can be downloaded from the workshop. On the desktop and in certain software players can see the HTC Vive controllers as their standard grey plastic designs, these can now be reskinned with two designs at the moment. One is a horned design (as seen below) the other is Aperture Science inspired.

The second update adds automatic firmware recovery for controllers and wireless receivers. The official description states: “Recovery will initiate when SteamVR starts and detects a malfunctioning device connected over USB.”

As more updates are added for SteamVR, VRFocus will bring you the latest details.
