The Oculus Touch virtual reality (VR) controllers finally have their first full videogames. A handful of titles were confirmed to support the kit back at the Oculus Connect 2 developer conference in September. But still one of the most impressive showcases of what these position-tracked devices can do exists in Oculus VR’s original tech demo, Toybox. Today, Oculus VR itself has released a new video that shows off what players are able to do within the software.

This video will be familiar to anyone that’s had a chance to step inside Toybox at events like E3, PAX and Oculus Connect 2 itself over the past 4 months. This short series of clips shows how players can reach into this virtual world and interact with a wide variety of objects from laser pistols and toy robots to even slingshots and fireworks.

It also provides a good example of Toybox as a social VR experience. In the title players appear as a floating head with a pair of hands, each of which replicating their real world movements. Oculus Touch’s gesture recognition comes into play, allowing players to give each other the thumbs up and point towards other items.

It’s a small showcase of exactly what Oculus Touch is capable of. The kit will be releasing after the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) – due in Q1 2016 – arriving in Q2 of next year. A price for the tech is yet to be announced although it will include an additional tracking sensor.

VRFocus will continue to follow Oculus Touch and its compatible software closely, reporting back with any further updates on the tech.
