There were plenty of surprises in store for the PlayStation VR virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) at the 2015 PlayStation Experience last weekend, perhaps the biggest  of which was the reveal of Rez Infinite. This is a revival of the arcade-style classic that debuted on the Dreamcast well over a decade ago, gaining something of a cult following as it moved onto the PlayStation 2 as well. Updated for PlayStation 4, brand new screenshots of the experience have now arrived, and can be seen below.

A total of 13 new images of Rez Infinite are below, speaking to just how varied the music-based title’s neon visuals are. No two shots look the same, with various enemies and backgrounds lighting up levels in ways quite unlike anything else seen on PlayStation VR. Players will travel through these levels on-rails, shooting down enemies to create music tracks in real-time.

It’s not yet clear when Rez Infinite will be releasing, though PlayStation VR itself isn’t expected to hit until the first half of 2016. VRFocus will continue to follow both the title and HMD closely, reporting back with the latest updates on its progress.
