There are a handful of virtual reality (VR) videogames confirmed for the HTC Vive head-mounted display (HMD) right now, but few of the developers working on them are being as open about their practises and methods as indie team Stress Level Zero. The team has been running an in-depth DevBlog series on its anticipated upcoming title, Hover Junkers, which is set to make full use of the HTC Vive’s user-tracking features made possible with Valve’s SteamVR system. This week sees the latest entry in that series arrive.
The video below is Stress Level Zero’s seventh DevBlog and details the process of the creation of ships in Hover Junkers. It provides an in-depth look at how the team assembles these detailed vehicles and how it goes about finding inspiration for concepts, even showcasing its model kit-like method to assembling the various parts. Players will be able to walk around these ships themselves in first-person. There’s also a few glimpses of the title itself in action.
It’s not yet clear when Hover Junkers will be launching, although the HTC Vive itself isn’t due to launch until the end of the year and, even then, in a limited capacity. A full launch is expected to take place in 2016.
