Virtual reality (VR) head-mounted displays (HMDs) are now very close to release, which obviously means the first full VR videogames are too. Among the projects aiming to be available at the launch of the likes of the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and PlayStation VR is first-person adventure title, The Assembly. Developed by UK-based VR studio nDreams, this experience will be arriving on all three of the previously mentioned devices. nDreams has its work cut out for itself then but, according to the developer itself, The Assembly is getting ‘very close’ to having its ‘final fixes’ made.

The developer said as much in a recent blog post made on its official site that discussed the differences between creating traditional and VR videogames. “We’ve now reached a point where we’re going back out into the wild with our current version of The Assembly for more player feedback, so as to prepare us for our final push,” the team wrote.

“We’re very close to the stage where all that’s left in terms of the game’s development is some final fixes and a round of polish to bring the game to quality bar we’ve set for it. Don’t forget that you’ll be able to play it for yourself at EGX Rezzed in April.”

The Oculus Rift will be arriving on 28th March 2016, with the HTC Vive following in April. PlayStation VR, meanwhile, is still expected to launch at some point in the first half of 2016. That gives a good idea of the timeframe that nDreams is working with here. The Assembly will cast players as two protagonists that are looking into a mysterious organisation. Set in the group’s underground base, players will explore the environment, finding out more about the organisation.
