Television and film aren’t just looking into virtual reality (VR) as a new way of connecting with viewers. They’re interested in augmented reality (AR) as well, something that American broadcaster NBC has shown with a new promotional partnership with social media giant Twitter.

NBC and Twitter teamed up to bring an AR experience to the recording of yesterday’s episode of hit reality television show The Voice. Backstage stars and contestants were able to pledge their support via AR generated graphics to series judges Christina Aguilera, Pharrell Williams, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine with the results posted as Vine by the official US account of The Voice, which you can see below.

VRFocus will bring you more updates about the use of AR and VR in the media in the near future.
