Lots of news has surfaced today in relation to Microsoft’s mixed reality (MR) head-mounted display (HMD),HoloLens. Alongside pre-orders now opening for the Developers Edition three titles have also been confirmed to be bundled in. They’re Fragments, Young Conker and RoboRaid. RoboRaid was previously unveiled at a Windows 10 briefing in October 2015, code named at the time Project X-Ray. Now Microsoft has released the first trailer for the title.

RoboRaid has been developed by Microsoft, and the video below features some of the creative team discussing the videogame and its development. In a blogpost post from Kudo Tsunoda, corporate vice president at Microsoft he wrote: “RoboRaid has you defending your own home against an alien invasion. It is a highlight of how our key holographic platform features can be used in gaming. It uses your real world as the environment. Nothing adds urgency to 1st person shooter gameplay like seeing alien robots breaking through the walls of your own home. It uses spatial sound as a huge feature of the game. When you hear walls crumbling behind you it is impossible to not spin around and defend your turf. It   highlights how to use our gaze, gesture, and voice input model in a fast and frenetic gameplay experience.”

The HoloLens Developer Edition is due to begin shipping on 30th March 2016, in the US and Canada, international shipping doesn’t seem to be available at present. VRFocus will continue its coverage of HoloLens as further announcements are made.
