360-degree filmmakers are constantly exploring new ways of telling a narrative in virtual reality (VR). Whether its a documentary, extreme sports, animation or anything else in between, more and more studios are taking on the challenge. One of the newest is MeraVR a Moscow-based studio that has created Best Las Vegas Movies In Virtual Reality (360°), a short film chronicling the movies created in the Nevada city.

Shot using a 6-camera GoPro rig, Best Las Vegas Movies In Virtual Reality (360°) takes viewers on a 360-degree tour of Las Vegas, stopping at the famous casinos and hotels dotted along the famous gambling strip. At each location on the tour the film describes some of the famous Hollywood movies shot there.

From The Hangover and Ironman at Caesars Palace to Hunter S. Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas recorded in a suite at the Flamingo, Best Las Vegas Movies In Virtual Reality (360°) gives an immersive, historical look at how filmmakers have used the iconic city as a backdrop.

The video can be viewed below and controlled using a mouse or WASD keys. For the full immersive experience it’s compatible with VR headset like Oculus Rift, Samsung Gear VR and Google Cardboard.

VRFocus will continue to follow the latest VR projects from MeraVR, reporting back with an new updates.
