If you’ve heard of NEKOPARA, then you know its based around two Japanese ‘catgirls’ Chocola and Vanilla who open up a patisserie called La Soleil. Now the videogames developer NEKO Works has expanded the series into virtual reality (VR) with NEKOPALIVE for the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive head-mounted displays (HMDs).

Free to download through Steam, NEKOPALIVE isn’t so much a videogame as it is an immersive experience. Using the characters from NEKOPARA NEKO Works brings the La Soleil catgirls to the stage, where they sing and dance to a crowd. Placed as one of the audience, users can watch the show from several set camera angles taking the closer or further away from the stage. NEKO Works has included songs such as Thump Thump, Heart-Throbbing, Flavor, and 100% Meow Power Nyantasy.

There’s been a wave of new releases for the HTC Vive HMD recently, these include Lightblade VR, Waltz of the Wizard, Leave the Nest, vrAMP and IrreVRsible to name a few. While the Oculus Rift headset has received a far fewer number of titles land on the device, especially on Steam.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of all the latest VR releases on Steam, reporting back as and when new content launches.
