The primary purpose for this video is for me to gauge my (hopeful) improvement as I get more practice from this initial video.

I bought my Gear 360 a while ago, and I’ve been doing a bunch of stills, but I haven’t done any video. This is my very first attempt. Hardware-wise all I am using is the Gear 360 (2017) with current updates and a selfie pole. For software, I used the Gear 360 app on my phone to get the stabilization and then copied the file to my desktop to edit in the free Insta360 Studio.

Toward the end of the video, I adjusted my selfie stick from 94 cm to 70 cm. I didn’t really notice much difference in the video but holding the selfie stick, those 24 cms (about 9.5 in) made a huge difference.

My thinking at this point is that shooting in 360 and then overcapturing is a great way to make talking-head videos. The Samsung Gear 360 stabilization works great. I can cross that gimble mount off my shopping list.

My other thought is that I really ought to invest in some off camera audio. My smartphone and an external microphone will probably be good enough to start with.
