The official consumer release of the Samsung Gear VR mobile virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) happened a couple of months ago for those in the US, but international VR fans have had to wait a little while longer. Europe followed soon after the November 20th release, with individual counties seeing availability pop up on Samsungs online store. Now its seems availability is spreading further a field with India tipped to see the headset this month.

Technology blog Phone Radar has claimed through its sources that the country could be seeing the Gear VR along with other Samsung tech including its smartwatches. Those sources have not been cited, and as yet Samsung hasn’t made any official announcements, but the company didn’t release statements for every territory it launched the HMD in since November 2015.

The headset has been popular with developers keen to promote VR with a steady stream of software available for the platform. Videogames, 360-degree immersive videos and apps are available to download, some free some paid for, to showcase the technology.

VRFocus will continue to follow any further updates to the Gear VR closely, reporting back the latest announcements.
