This week has seen Disney announce a collaboration with Nokia to utilise the company’s professional 360-degree OZO, and today sees the film and animation studio push further into virtual reality (VR). Immersive production company IM360 has now revealed a partnership with Radio Disney to bring VR to the 2016 Radio Disney Awards.

Through the Radio Disney website and YouTube channel, fans will be able to view the red carpet for the event in 360-degrees before it’s shown on normal TV. The show will be available to watch on Saturday 30th April 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00pm PDT.

“Teaming up with Radio Disney provides IM360 with a powerful platform to explore creative new avenues in virtual reality, as we begin to see 360-degree experiences given top priority,” said Rich Flier, spokesperson for IM360. “It’s exciting to be a part of Radio Disney’s commitment to embracing technology and pushing the boundaries of interactive entertainment. We are honoured to bring the music to life and help millions of Disney fans experience the awards show like never before.”

The 2016 Radio Disney Awards will take place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California, and will feature performances by Ariana Grande, DNCE, Flo Rida, Hailee Steinfeld, Zara Larsson, Daya, Kelsea Ballerini, Sabrina Carpenter, Laura Marano, Sofia Carson and Jordan Smith.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of the latest Disney news as more VR announcements are made.
