All the way back in June 2015 VRFocus reported that Buffalo Vision’s Irrational Exuberance would be coming to Valve and HTC’s upcoming virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), the HTC Vive. The title started life as part of the LA Game Space Kickstarter campaign a few years ago, originally in development for the Oculus Rift. The experience has since earned a grant from Wevr, the studio behind TheBlu: Encounter for the HTC Vive. This week, Irrational Exuberance has released its first trailer since news of the new version broke, which can now be seen below.

The 30-second clip captures Irrational Exuberance‘s surreal atmosphere that people will immerse themselves in with VR. The title is a first-person exploration experience in which players will investigate fantastical sights and more. The new version of the videogame is being designed specifically for use with HTC Vive’s position-tracked controllers and Room Scale user tracking, both of which are provided by Valve’s SteamVR system. This means that players will be able to actually walk around the videogame’s environment in an area of up to 15-feet by 15-feet.

A release date for Irrational Exuberance is yet to be set, and it’s not clear if the title is still planned to release on the Oculus Rift. The HTC Vive itself is expected to see a very limited launch before the end of 2015 before a much wider release takes place in the first quarter of next year. A price for the device hasn’t yet been confirmed, though fans are expecting something significant upgrades over the developer kits, including extended battery life for the SteamVR controllers among other aspects.

There’s still plenty more to learn about Irrational Exuberance, then. VRFocus will be following the project as it heads towards release, relaying all of the latest information on it.
