Earlier this week VRFocus reported on the news that UK-based developer Rebellion would be taking its upcoming virtual reality (VR) tank warfare title, Battlezone, to the IGN Conference in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 16th – 17th October 2015. The developer will be showcasing the title with the PlayStation VR head-mounted display (HMD) on PlayStation 4. But that’s not the only VR device that’s set to be on display at this week’s event; the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift PC-based devices are also set to be showcased.

The IGN Conference website reveals as much, also confirming that HTC itself is a sponsor for the show. It’s not yet clear in what capacity either HMD will be on display, then, with no announced videogames or other experiences confirmed to be shown. Those interested in heading to the show can purchase a general admission day pass for AED100 or a CIP 2 day pass for AED500. Alongside VR, the event will also offer showcases for other videogames, celebrity appearances and even panels and workshops.

The HTC Vive is expected to launch in a limited fashion before the end of 2015, with a consumer reveal currently rumoured for 20th October. The kit has been created in partnership with Valve and its SteamVR system, which allows players to talk around a real world environment and have those movements replicated within an experience. A wider release is expected in 2016 as is the launch of the first consumer version of the Oculus Rift. The kit will specifically be arriving in Q1 of next year though no official date or price has been announced.

VRFocus will continue to follow each and every VR HMD, reporting back with the latest updates on them.
