Following the recently launch of Sketchfab’s first official virtual reality (VR) application, the company has today announced a new web-based application which will allow users to create a virtual museum from their Instragram account. Dubbed ‘Instamuseum’, anyone can use the application for free.

With Instamuseum you’ll create your own 3D gallery in minutes. A simple procedure (outlined below) will allow for your own personal images to be presented on one of four formats, all viewable with a VR head-mounted display (HMD).

How to Create an Instamuseum:

Visit Instamuseum.com and enter a Instagram username.

Select an environment from the dropdown menu.

Sign in to your Sketchfab account, or create one.

Wait a few minutes while the application accesses your pictures, frames them, and hangs them on the virtual walls of your chosen space.

Your Instamuseum will appear and you can start exploring it!

Those interested in viewing their Instamuseum via a VR HMD have a number of different options available to them and Sketchfab themselves provide support for those not yet knowledgeable of how to sideload apps on Oculus Rift or other device.

Sketchfab has recently made a big push for VR content with the launch of their debut application for both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, with a Samsung Gear VR edition to follow. Along with Google Cardboard viewing and 3D models of HMDs, there will undoubtedly be more applications to come from Sketchfab. VRFocus will keep you updated with all the latest details.
