The Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR recently received an exclusive virtual reality (VR) port of Square Enix’s hugely popular Hitman GO, known as Hitman GO: VR Edition. With the videogame available now and currently one of the most popular titles on both head-mounted displays (HMDs), VRFocus has endeavoured to deliver you all the details you need to know about this new rendition of what was once a mobile-only title.

Bringing Hitman GO to VR

The first thing you need to know is that Hitman GO: VR Edition is the exact same videogame on Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR as it is on other formats, though given the benefits of VR it’s not the same experience. The videogame features all 91 levels from the Android and iOS editions of Hitman GO, including all content updates (Opera, Airport and St. Petersburg boxes). Furthermore, in Hitman GO: VR Edition there are no in-app purchases.

Hitman GO: VR Edition sees the videogame ‘reimagined’ with VR in mind. Head-tracking movement, intuitive controls and an abstract yet immersive environment allow for a completely new experience on both Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR.

Hitman GO: VR Edition Compatibility

For the Oculus Rift, Hitman GO: VR Edition is available to purchase from the Oculus Home application. The videogame requires 4.79GB of disk space and lists its recommended specifications as an Intel i5-4590 processor or equivalent alongside an NVIDIA GTX 970 or AMD R9 290. 8GB RAM are recommended.

On Samsung Gear VR, Hitman GO: VR Edition is now compatible with all smartphone handsets supporting the HMD. These include Samsung Galaxy Note 4, Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 5.

Required Control Pads for Hitman GO: VR Edition

The Oculus Rift version of Hitman GO: VR Edition is playable with either of the two input devices that come bundled with the Oculus Rift itself: the Xbox One controller or the Oculus Remote.

On Samsung Gear VR, a gamepad is not required but most definitely recommended. VRFocus has offered a guide to the best gamepads for Gear VR, so if you’ve not yet invested in a bluetooth controller but have been intending to, Hitman GO: VR Edition may be enough to persuade you.

Hitman GO: VR Edition Price

Despite being the same videogame experience, Hitman GO: VR Edition is priced differently on Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift. The mobile version of the videogame is available to purchase for $7.99 USD/£5.99 GBP, while the desktop edition is priced at $9.99/£7.99.

As stated above, neither version of the videogame has in-app purchases of any kind. Whichever version of Hitman GO: VR Edition you choose, you can be sure that the price you pay will allow you to access all of the videogame’s content.
